Comments: By June, Ross Perot's rise threatened to marginalize Clinton.  The Democrats put together a half-hour town hall meeting from the studios of public television station WQED in Pittsburgh.  The program was broadcast nationally.

The studio was arranged with the audience sitting on bleachers on three sides of the room.  Large "America Speaks: National Town Meetings" signs were positioned above the bleachers.  Clinton stood on a blue carpet in the middle of the room and took questions. .  For much of the broadcast, text ran along the bottom of the screen, "For a copy of the Clinton Plan or if you want to help Call 1-800-#."  About a dozen people in the audience queried the candidate on subjects including jobs, the homeless, health care, and balancing the budget.  After some closing thoughts, Clinton went around the room shaking hands.
