CURRENT:
Governor of Arkansas, re-elected to his fifth term (fourth consecutive term) in 1990.
Announced candidacy Oct. 3, 1991; accepted the Democratic nomination July 16, 1992.

CAREER:
· Elected Governor in 1982, 1984, 1986, and 1990.
· Defeated in 1980 re-election bid by banker Frank D. White (R) by 51.9% to 48.1%.
· In 1978, at age 32, elected Arkansas Governor with 63.4% of the vote, defeating Lynn Lowe (R).
· In 1976, elected Arkansas Attorney General; unopposed in the general election.
· In 1974, at age 28, ran for Congress in AR-3, losing to the incumbent Rep. John Paul Hammerschmidt (R) by 51.8% to 48.2%.
· Taught law at University of Arkansas Fayetteville, 1973.
· In 1972, coordinated George McGovern's presidential campaign in Texas.

EDUCATION:
B.S. in foreign service from Georgetown University (1968).  Rhodes Scholar at University College, Oxford.  J.D. from Yale Law School (1973).

FAMILY:

Married Hillary Rodham in 1975; one daughter, Chelsea, born in Feb. 1980.

AGE:
46 years, 5 months old on Inauguration Day, Jan. 20, 1993.
Born Aug. 19, 1946 in Hope, AR and grew up in Hot Springs.  His mother trained as a nurse; his father, a traveling salesman, was killed in an automobile accident.  She subsequently married Roger Clinton Sr., a car salesman.
