· California Secretary of State, elected in 1970, served one term, 1971-75.

Studied for a year at Santa Clara University, 1955.  Studied for priesthood at Sacred Heart Novitiate, a Jesuit seminary in Los Gatos, 1956-60.  B.A. in Classics from UC Berkeley, 1961.  L.L.B. from Yale Law School, 1964.

Born Apr. 7, 1938 in San Francisco, son of attorney Pat Brown and Bernice Layne Brown.  Pat Brown served as SF District Attorney (1943-50), CA Attorney General (1951-59) and Governor (1959-67).  Jerry Brown's younger sister Kathleen was born Sept. 25, 1945.
